An avid reader since a young age, I enjoyed reading books loaned from my local library. Adventure stories, family life and animal characters inspired my imagination, which in turn encouraged me to draw the little characters that I visualised in my mind, and then the scenes and the stories to go with them. Being a child growing up in the early 1950’s, the primary cheap source of entertainment for kids was comics. A trip down Memory Lane folks. Do you remember The Beano and The Dandy to name just two? Marvellous weren’t they? And of course girls’ magazines. I used to have, ‘Jackie’, delivered every week. I think I was either eleven or twelve years old when this one came out. It was great and introduced me to the latest fashion for teens. I looked forward to it.
Now I’m older, I appreciate nature and her wildlife, the trees and woodlands are places we all need to see and be amongst. For our health and well-being they must all remain intact, nurtured and protected. But in a changing world where climate seasons are becoming even more unpredictable, it makes me wonder what the future holds for us.
I didn’t start writing until I was in my early sixties. It was a combination of events that led to the creation of my two earlier books, my GoldenEars series duo. Life influences played their part, the death of a loved one, stress and anxiety too. My concern for wildlife globally plagued my mind until the story of a wolf and a boy materialised in my mind. In 2019, my debut novel, GoldenEars: The Whispering Mountain was published. It was followed two years later by the sequel, GoldenEars: The Pale Skulls. My books are thought-provoking, meaningful stories. I wanted to highlight the grey wolf in North America. My books are full of adventure, mystery, dangers, friendship and of course love. They also have a message about the fragility of wildlife and our need to understand and protect them.
May 28th, 2023, was publication day for my charming children’s book, Stikki the Squirrel, book one. I am proud to say this book features my own illustrations. It was a joy to write and seeing it turn into a beautiful book and win awards is fantastic and a great ego-boost.
My fourth book: Stikki the Squirrel: Tree Spirits, book two. Publication date, February 28th, 2026.
I am so excited for this book. Please enjoy my enchanting world of animal stories with easy to root for characters as well as easy-to-follow plots.
I live in the sunny seaside town of Worthing, West Sussex, with my husband, Peter. We have two grown sons; Tony and James and I am a proud grandmother to Amelia. I enjoy art, crafting and writing children’s stories. Or find me lounging beside the fire during the chilly months or relaxing in the summer sunshine enjoying their garden together. I love to watch the grey squirrels who frequent our garden to sneak the seeds and nuts on offer at the squirrel feeder provided. I am an animal right’s advocate and environmentalist and support a few animal charities.
